The Volunteer Voice is a bi-monthly newsletter published for our dedicated volunteers who give so much. Your time spent volunteering makes a difference in the lives of people who have Down syndrome. Activity for Kids with Down syndrome Ages 7-11

Come on down! 6-8 Volunteers are needed on May 6, 2010 from 5:30pm-8:15pm. Kids with Down syndrome ages 7-11 will be eating dinner, doing a Mothers Day craft and enjoying a show put on by Happy Faces Entertainment.
Duties will include:
- Socializing with kids while they eat dinner
- Assisting Kids with a craft
- Interacting with Kids during performance by Happy Faces Entertainment

The DSG holds special events/meetings for parents. We are in need of volunteers to take toys to daycare room, maintain childcare for kids with Down syndrome and their siblings, feed them, and have a fun time while their parents are attending meetings at the DSG center.
- 6 Volunteers are needed on May 22 from 8:30-11:15am
- 4 Volunteers are needed on June 1 from 6:00-8:45pm
- 4 Volunteers are needed on June 5 from 8:00-10:45am

DSG's Annual Family Carnival will be on June 12, 2010 at Shawnee Mission Park - Shelter 10. 40 Volunteers are needed from 12:00-4:30 to help set up, tear down, run carnival games, paint faces, serve food and monitor inflatiables.

STARS - Special Teens Achieving Real Success

- For the month of May STARS will need volunteers every Wednesday evening from 6pm-8pm. All activities will be held at the DSG center and will include a variety of social activities.
- For the month of June STARS will need volunteers every Tuesday and Friday afternoon from 1pm-4pm to assist with various activities.
STARS volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and apply to volunteer. If you are interested in any STARS opportunities please contact Rose, Teen Program Coordinator at 913-384-4848 or by E-mail at Rose@kcdsg.org.
